The majority of Coalition resources used in the 1991 Gulf War were brought into theater by United States Navy sealift operations, taking months to assemble and prepare for combat operations. What if instead of allowing Operation Desert Shield to build up between August 1990 and January 1991, Iraq had denounced the partition of the Saudi-Kuwaiti Neutral Zone and invaded Saudi Arabia to take control of the area? Would Iraq's extensive experience in anti-ship warfare have allowed it to achieve victory in Northern Saudi Arabia and stave off the Coalition?
